This role will be the key representative and point of contact in Tom Price and surrounding areas.

About Us

The Pilbara Kimberley University Centres (PKUC) is a not-for-profit education support service for current and aspiring students undertaking higher education and other adult learning education within the Pilbara and Kimberley region.  The PKUC also provides career guidance and education pathway advice to secondary school students wishing to pursue higher education and community members wishing to upskill or change careers.

The PKUC is part of the Federal Government’s Regional University Study Hubs (RUSHs) network, providing support to students in regional, rural and remote areas to access higher education without the need to leave their families, friends, homes or jobs in the pursuit of a university qualification. RUSH’s play an important role in developing critical skills for the future of regional centres and its communities.

Our mission is to promote and support higher education in the Pilbara and Kimberley to all residents irrespective of their age or background. PKUC will provide a unique learning environment through which students gain access to educational support, application and enrolment assistance, guidance on courses and pathways, connections with local industry, comfortable and modern facilities in which to study and connect with other students, as well as administrative and student support.

PKUC has Study Hubs in the towns of Port Hedland, Karratha and Broome and will open two new hubs in Onslow and Tom Price in mid 2024.

 About you and the role

  • This role will be the face of our Tom Price Study Hub and the first point of contact for students studying in the Tom Price and surrounding areas.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who is passionate about their community,
  • Personable, adaptable, flexible, with excellent communication skills.
  • Provides co-ordination of all events, personnel and students at the Tom Price Study Hub to ensure effective and efficient provision of student services
  •  Provide academic support to both one on one and group settings and provide pathway advice to students.
  • Liaise with our PKUC academic staff on student matters
  • Develop and maintain positive and collaborative communication and working relationships with various external stakeholders such as the local school and business communities, University partners, Local, State & Federal Government agencies, community groups, Aboriginal Corporations, and residents of the Shire of Ashburton region, through appointments and events.
  • Undertake visits to schools and other educational institutions to provide outreach.
  • Provide information to the CEO with respect to the Tom Price Study Hub’s operations to satisfy Federal Government reporting requirements.
  • Manages and/or undertakes the implementation of projects or programs that align with PKUC values and objectives.
  • Attend management meetings as required, providing timely information and is actively involved in discussions, activities and events
  • Be able to travel from time to time throughout the Pilbara region.

 

This role offers the opportunity for flexible hours, 6 weeks annual leave, 11% statutory superannuation, 2 days paid community service leave (pro rata) and other employee entitlements.

This role is a permanent position.

Qualifications

  • University qualification in Business, Allied Health, Science, Management or Education are desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within regional locations and an understanding of regional issues and challenges
  • Able to obtain a Working With Children Check (WWC) and National police clearance
  • Must be an Australian citizen or have a current working Visa for Australia.
