Conversational English 

This course is designed for students with an intermediate level of English who are seeking to upskill their English proficiency in listening and speaking.  The course consists of six topics to help students develop active listening skills, seek information, prepare for job seeking and become more confident speaking in English.  Students are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions and will have a homework task to complete each week to further practice the skills learnt in class.

Reading and Writing in English

This course is designed for students with an intermediate level of English who are seeking to up-skill their English proficiency in reading and writing.  The course consists of six topics to help students read different kinds of texts, write formal letters and emails, and prepare for job-seeking and employment.  Students are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions and will have a homework task to complete each week to further practice the skills learnt in class.

IS PUC’S CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH or READING AND WRITING IN ENGLISH COURSE FOR YOU?

These courses are suitable for you if you want to improve your essential communication skills in English and:

  • learn about Australian Culture and the Pilbara lifestyle,
  • meet new friends from multicultural backgrounds and increase your networking opportunities,
  • seek additional support to gain the knowledge skills and confidence to successfully enter and undertake further study.

PUC’s Conversational English course and Reading and Writing in English course are designed for students who seek opportunities to upgrade their English proficiency especially in speaking and communication.

AM I ELIGIBLE?

To be eligible for PUC’s Conversational English and Reading and Writing in English courses, you must have:

  • a basic spoken English level (or higher),
  • already obtained a valid Australian Visa, and
  • currently residing in Australia.

WHAT COSTS ARE INVOLVED IN UNDERTAKING THESE COURSES?

Each course fee is AUD$ 150.00

The course fee includes course materials, refreshments and light finger food.

Each session runs for 1 hour 30 minutes, starting at 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm and is held once per week.  Conversational English is held on Tuesday evenings, with Reading and Writing in English held on Thursday evenings.

WHAT CONTENT WILL BE COVERED IN THE COURSE?

Reading & Writing in English provides you with the reading strategies, formal writing, and information and job seeking skills to help boost your confidence in English and prepare you for further education or employment.

Conversational English provides you with the listening strategies, information finding skills, job seeking preparation and oral presentation skills to help boost your confidence in communicating in English in the community.

WHERE CAN I STUDY?

Courses will be taught at PUC Karratha Campus in a face-to-face delivery mode.  PUC Karratha Campus is located at:  

 Level 1, 20 Sharpe Ave, Karratha
