Pathway Courses

PKUC offers a number of alternative pathways for university entry with our university partners. Alternative pathways are suitable for mature age students and aspiring students who don’t meet the university’s ATAR requirements for their program of choice or need preparation prior to entry into specific programs.


UniReady Enabling Program (In partnership with Curtin University)

The UniReady Enabling Program is a pathway to Curtin University for undergraduate studies. If you do not meet Curtin University’s entry requirements, completion of the program can help you qualify for entry.

Who is this for?

This program is suitable if you:

  • Do not meet Curtin’s indicative ATAR
  • Did not generate an ATAR score after completing general studies
  • Did not complete high school studies
  • Are undertaking or completed vocational studies and want to continue to university
  • Are a mature student aged 20 years or older

Eligibility

You may still be eligible for the program if you don’t meet the options above.

This program is for Australian permanent residents and citizens. Students must reside in Australia for the duration of minimum one unit. International students are not eligible.

Course details

Fees: Free
Duration: 12 weeks per semester
Delivery: Mixed-mode or online
Completion time: 1 semester full-time or 2 semesters part-time

UniReady is offered for both Terms 1 and 2. The mixed-mode delivery format includes online resources and two hours of in-person tutorials per unit on campus.

Your electives should relate to your intended undergraduate course. Some undergraduate courses will require you to complete specific units. If you have completed a Certificate IV or higher you may be eligible for credit towards elective units.

STEPS (In partnership with CQUniversity)

The Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) program is a pathway for students who want to pursue a diploma or degree at CQUniversity.

Who is this for?

This program is suitable if you:

  • Do not hold an undergraduate qualification
  • Are 18 years or older at the time of enrolment
  • Need to meet entry requirements for your intended diploma or degree
  • Need additional preparation prior to further study
  • Are a mature student aged 20 years or older

Eligibility

This program is eligible for Australian permanent residents and citizens, New Zealand citizens, and holders of an Australian humanitarian visa. Students must reside in Australia. International students are not eligible.

Fees: Free
Duration: Subject to the Bachelor Degree targeted by student to study
Delivery: Mixed-mode or online
Completion time: 1-2 semester(s) full-time or 2-4 semesters part-time

STEPS is offered for Terms 1, 2 and 3. The mixed-mode delivery format (available in Terrms 1 & 2) includes online resources and in-person tutorials per unit on campus.
