The PUC will be closed on Monday 28th September, reopening Monday 5th October.  All student tutorials and lectures will continue as per normal. 

During the Christmas and New Years period the PUC will be closed from Monday 21st December 2020, reopening Monday 11th January 2021.

Rural and Regional Scholarships

1,100 Scholarships Available for Students Commencing a Course in 2020

Scholarships are available to students who are living in regional and remote areas wishing to undertake study in any discipline.  These scholarships are valued at up to $18,000 for study from Certificate IV to PhD level through any mode of study, face-to-face or online/by distance.  Scholarship recipients may also receive $500 to support an internship during their studies.  For more information click here.

Pilbara ship engraving may depict British ship Mermaid in 1818

A team of archaeologists has discovered a depiction of a British naval ship carved onto a boulder on an island in the Dampier Archipelago in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.

They believe the engraving is a depiction of His Majesty’s Cutter (HMC) Mermaid, captained by the British naval officer Phillip Parker King in his survey of Australia’s coastlines between 1817 and 1822.

Ancient rock remains reveal signs pointing to earliest life on Earth

Ancient rock remains in the remote Pilbara region of Western Australia hold the key to analysing some of the earliest signs of life on Earth, according to a new study. 

The findings, published in the journal Geology, point to the existence of ancient life on Earth, after researchers uncovered exceptionally preserved microbial remains inside samples of rock from the Dresser Formation, in the Pilbara.  Read more here.
